John Walsh - Fort Donelson Relics
In this segment John had the opportunity to sit down with me and let us know what is happening with his business and family. Drop in and listen this interview folks and you will find out why John and Nikki have made Fort Donelson Relics one of the best and most trusted in the relic business. They truly love what they do and take all the extra steps to make collecting not only enjoyable but educational as well.
Pam Huskey - Facets of History - Historic Jewelry
Cassie had the chance to interview Pam Huskey from Facets of History www.facetsofhistory.com to learn what is the ends and out of collecting early jewelry of the victorian and civil war era, these include hair jewelry. I had no idea what in the world this was and for those of you who are like me this is worth a listen because you could pick up a very expensive item for almost nothing if you no what to look for.
Trish Ridgeway - The Old Courthouse Civil War Museum
We are always excited to promote other nonprofit historical sites and to learn about our history all over the U.S. and this is no exception. Cassie had the chance to talk with Trish Ridgeway who came by and talked about the happenings at The Old Courthouse Civil War Museum in Winchester, VA. If you are in the area this is a must see. There are plenty events planned and a bunch of things to see.
Debi Robinson - D & K Prints
Debi and Kent Robinson were our neighbors at the Relic Show. I had Debbie come over to talk to us about Prints, Painting and Lithographs. She told us how to collect, what to collect and what to look for to make the most of your investment. She specializes in John Paul Strain, who depicts the American Civil War, World War II and Native American scenes. Visit them online at http://dandkprints.com/ .
Breed Hickerson - Savannah Show and Hunt
Breed stopped by and talked about the seeded hunt he is putting on as well as the Savannah Civil War Show. We had someone stop by with a great piece of Native American Art (pipe) and we stumble to try how to describe it. Breed also nails me on a joke, which reminds me never to ask for stories at these events.
Lenard Draper - Rail Guns
Lenard had a display at the show and one item that made me stop was the rail guns he had. These were placed on the rails of ships as defense and could be carried by hand. We had just done the show with Colin Woodard and Pirates so I wanted to hear more.
Lawrence Christopher- Exploding Shells and Piles of Buttons
If there is anyone who knows how dangerous unexploded canon shells are it is Lawrence, he is a survivor of a 140 year old shell that exploded. He tells us the story and also a story of a mound of buttons he found.
Skip Mayorga - Stories you won't believe
Butch brought Skip by just to talk a while. I'm still wondering if it was a good idea or not (grin). We had a good time telling stories about skips adventures in the woods. He fits right in with Butch and I (just not right).
Mark Kirks - Confederate Canteen
Mark brought in a beautiful Confederate Canteen that was found in a house he was renovating. You have all heard the story of me wanting to take the cover of the canteen, well here it is. It was a great piece of history and I'm glad I was there to see it, even if I was threatened by Butch and Mark. Hey, I just wanted to see if there was a CS stamp under there. (just kidding)
